Assou Ekotto: Read player’s epic response to a French journalist on the Paris Attack!

Known for his temperament that made him say one day that he was a footballer “to make money”, the Cameroonian player of AS Saint-Etienne, Benoît Assou-Ekotto, proved true to his reputation during an explosive interview with L’Equipe.

During that interview, he answered a series of questions. But what drew our attention is the answer he gave for his refusal to wear the black armband to mourn for the victims of the Paris attack. This is what the former indomitable Lion had to say about it.

“Shortly before, there was an attack in northern Cameroon and I was refused to wear it for a Europa League match I know the principle of the ‘mort au kilomètre’. A murderer who kills two people XVIth district of Paris will make more noise than if he kills a hundred at the other side of the world. But I am a very straight, I do not see why I should wear an armband for the dead in Paris and not in Cameroon. I am neither white nor black, apart from my skin color. To me, there are no VIP deads. “

As a reminder, in November 13th 2015, a terrorist attack occured in Paris that left so many people dead. Despite the fact that some days earlier there were attacks in Cameroon, Nigeria, Chad, just to name a few, the later were completely shaded and all eyes were on Paris, Facebook even had to create a flag feature to support Paris. Shortly after the incident, St. Etienne, Ekotto’s club was playing a match and every player had to wear an armband to mourn for the Paris deads. But the Cameroonian refused to do so.

I am 16 years old. I was born on Nov 23, 1999.

[b]How did you know?[/b]
Because my mother told me so and that is the date I celebrate my birthday every year. I just graduated from secondary school last year here in Bayelsa State, at the age of 16. All my peers are in my age bracket. I am certain of my age because I am old enough to know. Ese and I attend the same school. She was in JSS3 last year when she was taken away.

[b]What will you tell people who claim your sister is 17, and not 14 years old as your mother has said?[/b]
It is funny that these people are saying all sorts of things about my sister and her age. Everybody can see it, it is clear. I can’t be 16 years old, and my younger sister will be older than me. How can she be 17 years old, when my immediate elder sister, will clock 19 years old on March 7 this year? We all have about two years’ age difference in between. Ese clocked 14 on February 22.

[b]How did you celebrate her birthday?[/b]
Some people came to encourage us. We were happy, but we were sad that our sister was not there with us on her birthday.

[b]Do you know the man who took your sister away?[/b]
Yes, Yinusa is one of these normal Hausa guys around. We usually call them aboki; they sell things in our area.

[b]Did he look like someone who could abduct your sister?[/b]
Not at all; he looked very innocent and went about his business without complaint. When I heard he was the one that abducted my younger sister, I was very shocked and surprised.
If you look at his face, he looks like someone who cannot hurt a fly, and he was sometimes playful. I didn’t believe he could do such a thing. Everybody in the compound knew him because he used to supply water before he became a keke Marwa (tricycle) rider.
Some people also claim that your younger sister said she does not want to come back home to Bayelsa, but that she wants to stay in Kano.
I do not believe them at all. Even if she said that as they claim, then it means they are the ones manipulating her to say such things, because Ese that I know cannot say such a thing.
Ese is that kind of person that does not even want to become a Muslim at all; she would not even dream of it. In school, she was one of the strongest Scripture Union members; I know her very well. Then, she also used to tell me to come and join the SU. She did evangelism during break time most times.

[b]What kind of person is your younger sister?[/b]
Ese is still a small girl and cannot decide many things for herself. Ese cannot even wash clothes very well. She likes singing and she was a chorister in the church. She likes preaching and praying. She used to preach to me and my friends. All those things they are saying she said are not true; they are manipulations by those people. I am sad about all of this. I just want my sister back home.

A couple (a young couple comprising a male and a female) was seen engaging in a brazen, no-clothes sex at the security post of the Road 1 gate of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife. They were seen at a vantage spot, where the roads meet, engaging in the act without regard to the timing and people, increasingly gathering. They allegedly rode on a bike through the gate, alighting at the security post premises. 
They immediately got undressed to the last piece (if you know what that means), placed their phones on the ground and started the sexcrobatics, which an eye-witness claimed was more of a scene out of an amateur pornography movie. While people gathered, they continued. They were futile, the initial efforts to extricate them. Call it rape, I'll disagree. Call it 'by consent', I'll be indifferent. Call it hypnosis of any act, I'll most likely agree because as much as the man's tool was being forcefully extricated, the lady seemed to be drawing towards the man like she would pass out if deprived of that act at that time and under such circumstances. An anonymous source said the lady sells footwears in Ile-Ife. Whatever the cause of this, it leaves more questions unanswered, which hopefully should get resolved once the police vehicle seen blasting siren as it drove to the scene was conveying policemen who were actually policemen.

Wickedness:Poly student loses left eye from robber’s bullet in Delta

A 19-year-old National Diploma, ND, student of Otefe Polytechnic, Oghara, Delta State, Esther Oteri, is battling for survival at the Delta State University Teaching Hospital, DELSUTH, after an armed robber damaged her face with bullets during operation.
DAILY POST gathered that the incident happened at about 7pm on February 18, a night to her matriculation day.
A source told our correspondent that Oteri had gone out to retrieve her matriculation gown from a dry-cleaner. On getting there, she saw a gunman right in the dry-cleaner’s office.
The terrified girl screamed ‘Jesus’ and the robber who was on operation at the wash man’s office, shot her for daring to raise the alarm.

He absconded after dispossessing her of her phone when she fell to the ground.
The 100 level student was, however, rushed to DELSUTH by passersby.

Nigerian Army Arrests 4 Boko Haram Suspects Responsible For Madalla Bombing

The alleged Boko Haram surveillance of the Christmas day bomb blast that killed about 44 persons and wounded over 75 others at St. Theresa’s Catholic Church at Madalla, Niger State has been arrested at Alkaleri town of Bauchi by the Nigeria Army.

The surveillance Victor Moses who was arrested hovering around a mosque in Alkaleri town claiming that he want to convert to Islam.

Victor Moses who hailed from Benue state was arrested along other three suspects Abubakar Shetima Bama, Salisu Mohammed Bello and Umar Madaki.
The suspects were paraded before the Chief Army Staff, Lt General Tukur Yusuf Buratai who was in Bauchi on an official engagement in Bauchi.

Parading the suspects before newsmen at Shadawanka Barrack in Bauchi on Monday, the Brigade Commandant of 33 Artillery Brigade, Bauchi, Brigadier General Abraham Luka Dusu said the suspects were arrested following information from the public.

He said ” our troops on duty in Alkaleri arrested Victor Moses after receiving report from the people in the area that the suspect, Victor Moses has been loitering around the mosque claiming that he is a Christian and want to convert to Islam but because he is not from the area, they suspected him and reported to our men.

“Victor Moses confessed that he is conducting surveillance for Boko Haram sometimes he stays in the shop Of Abubakar Shetima Bama who is based in Jos while the other two accomplice, Salisu Mohammed Bello and Umar Madaki are based in Gombe.

“With the information given to our men by Victor Moses, the other three suspects were arrested,” he said.

Brig General Dosu said the suspects after investigation will be handed over to Joint Intelligent Centre in Maiduguri for further interrogation

The following are 6 less known facts about Cameroon international, Samuel Eto’o is one of the most recognizable African footballers of all time. 

1) Samuel Eto'o was born in Nkon, Cameroon and his father is a accountant. 

2) Growing up his nickname was “little Milla”, in reference to Cameroonian international Roger Milla. His connection with Milla dates back to his childhood, when he caught one of Milla’s jerseys that he had thrown into the crowd during a match.

3) Eto'o has two brothers who are also footballers: David and Étienne.

4)  In an interview, Samuel Eto'o revealed that he stayed illegally in France for 9 months, looking for a club. Eto'o's attempts to sign with a French soccer club as a teenager were rejected due to his age and lack of a proper ID.
His first check playing football amounted to 200 euros a week. 

5) On 17 October 2010, in a Serie A game against Cagliari, after just three minutes of play, the referee halted the match to give a warning to some Cagliari fans who were singing racist chants towards Eto'o. After play was resumed, the rest of the stadium chanted loudly in an attempt to drown out the racist chants in order to avoid the match being suspended. Garoua International airport, proclaimed the sign on the concrete and glass terminal building. The designation was something of a misnomer, because only three or four planes land each week in this sleepy outpost in northern Cameroon, near the Nigerian border, all of them domestic flights. The schedule of the flights tends to be unpredictable. The aging jet that had just flown me to Garoua from Douala, for example, had made an unscheduled stop in N’Djamena, the capital of neighboring Chad, so that a government minister could attend a funeral nearby. La 18ème édition des jeux de la Fédération nationale des sports scolaires (FENASSCO) se tiendra à Bafoussam du 19 au 27 mars 2016, sous le thème: « Sport scolaire, creuset de la solidarité nationale ». Rendu à un mois du lancement de ladite compétition qui réunit les meilleures athlètes du milieu scolaire, le président du bureau exécutif national, Samuel Rigobert Mandeng, a donné un point de presse vendredi 12 février 2016 avec les présidents des comités régionaux et départementaux, les chefs d’établissements et de services des sports scolaires. A cette occasion, le président confiera que chaque région qui abrite les Jeux devrait gagner en termes d’infrastructures au sortir cette messe sportive. La compétition va accueillir des athlètes du secondaire en compétition dans 9 disciplines en filles et en garçons. La grande révélation sera que Samuel Eto’o Fils, l’ancien capitaine des Lions Indomptables, a été choisi comme parrain de cette édition. «Le goût de l’effort, le dépassement de soi et la constance dans les performances sont critères qui ont milité pour le choix de l’actuel attaquant d’Antalyaspor en Turquie», ajoutera le président.

Après Marc Vivien Foé l’année dernière, Samuel Eto’o sera le modèle des 500 jeunes qui se donneront rendez-vous dans le chef-lieu de la région de l’Ouest. Comme innovation pour cette édition, le comité d’organisation a promis de mener une lutte sans merci contre la tricherie. Election à la FIFA : Eto’o soutient Gianni

Le nouveau président de la Fifa sera connu vendredi 26 février 2016 à Zurich. Deux favoris pour succéder à Sepp Blatter : Gianni Infantino et le Cheikh Salman. Si la CAF  s’est prononcée en faveur du Cheikh Salman, Samuel Eto’o a apporté son soutien à Gianni Infantino. L’attaquant camerounais l’a déclaré sur son compte facebook.

« Je souhaite à Gianni de remporter l’élection de la FIFA. Je sais que les intérêts du football lui tiennent à cœur et son expérience, sa détermination et sa passion pour le sport peuvent lui permettre de faire une vraie différence pour le football en Afrique et dans le monde. » a-t-il écrit.
